Town Hall-Any "peon producer" of a race. Includes Necropolis, Tree of Life, Great Hall, the Town Hall itself, and the upgraded version of these buildings.
Farm-Any non-town hall, food-producing building. Includes Ziggurats, burrows, moonwells, and the farms themselves.
"Hide the farm"-Tactic in which a losing player places farms all over the map hoping their opponent will quit in frustration. Looked down upon by most players.
Hack-Cheat which gives one player an advantage over the other. Use of these runs the risk of Blizzard banning your CD key, rendering your copy of this game useless.
Rush-Attacking your opponent early in the game.
Creep-Neutral units that attack all players, regardless of their race or team. Killing them results in experience for heroes, gold, and potentially an item.
Creeping-Setting out with the only purpose of killing creeps.
Hotkeys-Shortcuts accessed by your keyboard strokes. For example, pressing "G" while a crypt is selected will produce a ghoul. Hotkeys replace the need to drag the mouse and press the actual command (in this case the ghoul button).
Nerf-To weaken a unit considered too powerful via a patch. For example, if patch 1.06 lowered a Footmen HP by 200, he would be nerfed.
Patch-A bunch of revisions to Warcraft given out by Blizzard. This may fix imbalances, bugs, glitches and the like. All players automatically download patches when they log on to Battle.net, unless no new patches have been released since the last time they logged on.
Footies-The unit Footmen (Human).
Aboms-The unit Abominations (undead).
Tech Tree-The order in which buildings must be built to build other buildings and units. For example, to build aboms you must have a Black Citadel. When players tech, that mean they are climbing to higher qulaity units.
Tier-The level of a unit on the tech tree. The are three tiers. An ghoul would be a tier 1 unit while an abomination is tier 3. Higher level means higher up the tech tree.
Expansions-A secondary base made primarily for the purpose of getting more gold. Expansion bases rarely have a large amount of non-town hall, non-farm buildings.
TP-Town Portal. Can also be used as a verb when you actively use the item.
WoN-Wand of Negation, cancels out many spells and units created by spells.
Buffs-Spells that increase the stats of a unit.
Towers-Defense structures. Mainly includes Watch Towers, Spirit Towers, Ancient Protectors, and Guard Towers.
Turtle-Strategy that involves staying in one's base and going up the tech tree quickly, relying primarily on an abundance of towers for defense. Considered a bad strategy by most players.
DotC, DotT-Druid of the Claw and Druid of the Talon units (night elf).
Icon-Shows win status on Battle.net. All players start with Orc Peon until they get 25 non-custon game wins with one of the follow races: Random, Human, Night Elf, Undead, and Orc. Icons are awarded at 25, 250, 500, 1500 wins with one race. Icon shows the race used most.
NE-Night Elf race.
UD-Undead race
HU-Human race.
Critters-Low HP, computer control units. They have no attacks and move random. Unlike creeps, nothing is awarded for their slaughter.

Macromanagement-Selecting large groups of units for attacking. Starcraft focuses more on this.
